The school nursing team have completed the National Child Measurement Programme in Kingston primary schools for the school year 2014-15
The National Child Measurement Programme measures the weight and height of children in reception class (aged 4 to 5 years) and year 6 (aged 10 to 11 years) to assess and monitor the healthy lifestyle of children within primary schools. This data can be used at a national level to support local public health initiatives and inform the local planning and delivery of services for children.
The participation rate achieved by the nurses was a highly commendable 99.3% (1947 children measured out of 1961 eligible children) in reception class and 99.6%(1658 children measured out of 1664 eligible children) in year 6. The average for England in 2013-14 was 94%
The success of the programme in the Kingston schools was achieved in conjunction with the continued cooperation of the schools and the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames
